sixyears and fourlovers later, and i'm still wading through past memories. but it's only because we're wistful, because we want something to hold onto, because the past can always be whatever what we want it to be (including what it actually was). it is ethereal, but we will adamantly remind each other that it was true. we Were. and we hopelessly try to nudge our way out of past tense, into some kind of hypothetical, counter-factual subjunctive. good luck. i refuse to surrender my future to my past, but i will always consider it. look up to the stars, breathe deep. a beautiful memory, warm and dreamy. i am too tired for these words. but i will always consider it.
